Our biogas plant facility is located at the ‘Errikos’ location,of Agios Vissarios, Sofades, in Regional Unit of Karditsa, Thessaly. The location was selected after a thorough investigation of the region. Selection was based raw material availability, and satisfying all relevant legal limitations and not impacting the environment and the broader region’s activities.
The specific plan produces biogas using mesophilic anaerobic co-digestion of organic waste and plant silage.
The purpose of the project is the management and energy utilisation of safe organic waste for the production of biogas and, by extension, electricity. Specifically, the biogas produced in the digesters through the anaerobic digestion of organic agricultural and livestock waste is burned in an internal combustion engine for the production of electricity and thermal energy. The produced electricity is channelled to the DEDDIE Medium Voltage network, via a suitable number of step-up transformers with the right power, located within a substation. Then it is sold in according with the current legislative framework on Renewable Energy Sources. The produced thermal energy is channelled to the biogas facility (anaerobic digestion tanks, pasteurisation tank).
